FedEx Cup Finale
East Lake Golf Club, Atlanta, GA
The final 30 players competed this past weekend for the FedEx Cup trophy and $10 million in cash. Coming into the week, Tiger Woods held the #1 spot, with the surging Swede Henrik Stenson in a close 2nd place.
Henrik Stenson led the tournament at Atlanta’s East Lake Golf Club, wire to wire. Stenson built a lead up to as many as nine strokes, but had that lead shrink to one over the surging rookie Jordan Spieth, who shot a final round 64.
Stenson held on to eventually claim a three shot win and the $10 million FedEx Cup cash. On top of the $10 million, Stenson also collects the $1.4 million first prize for winning the tournament. $11.4 million… not a bad week.
Tiger Woods never found a rhythm during the FedEx Cup final. Woods started with a first round 73, putting him nine shots behind the leader off the bat. He would finish 10 shots behind Stenson, citing “running out of gas” as the reason for the struggles.
