Golf Tips: Golf Speed

One of the biggest problems golf has is the large amount of time the game takes. Most average folks simply don’t have 5-6 hours of spare time to go play 18 holes. That’s one reason the golf industry is struggling, losing more players every year than it gains. How can we speed it up then? Today we will look at a bit of simple math which is truly mind boggling.
10 Seconds
Think for a moment, and get your calculator out if you’d like to follow along. If the average golfer shaves 10 seconds off his/her pre-shot routine, a group of four players could shorten a round of golf by ONE HOUR. Let’s look at the math.
The average golfer has a tough time breaking 90. Accounting for the time it takes to walk or ride the golf course, a reasonable amount of time per shot would be 20 seconds, resulting in a four hour round for a foursome. At 30 seconds per shot, per golfer, times 90+, that four hour round becomes a five-plus hour round.
Conclusion
Don’t take any unnecessary time before your shot to tell jokes or take too many practice swings. Try to limit your pre-shot routine to 20 seconds or less, and tell your friends to do it too!
We will all benefit.
