PGA Preview: 2012 Frys.com Open

PGA Tour - Frys.com Open This week the PGA Tour heads to San Marin, California for the Frys.com Open.  Purse for this week is $5 million with the winner's share coming in at $900K.  No FedEx Cup points. The venue this week is CordeValley Golf Club in San Martin, California.  This course winds through typical California hillsides with some nice elevation changes and target style shots.  The course was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., tipping out this week at 7,368 yards with a par value of 71. There's a great group in the field this week.  The featured group is full of major champions: Ernie Els, Trevor Immelman and Ben Curtis.  Other players in this field are vying for their 2013 Tour cards, notably John Daly who can crack the top 125 with a good finish. Champions Tour - Greater Hickory Classic at Rock Barn The seniors are at Rock Barn G&S in Conover, North Carolina this week for the Greater Hickory Classic. Purse this week is $1.6 million with the winner taking home $240K. With the race for the Charles Schwab cup getting more intense, this event is worth 240 Charles Schwab Cup points. This week's venue is Rock Barn Golf and Spa. The course is another Robert Trent Jones, Jr. design. This track is a par-72 which will be playing at 7,046 yards. In the field this week are some fun players to watch, including Mark O'Meara, Tom Kite, Tom Lehman, Schwab Cup points leader Bernhard Langer, Craig Stadler and Corey Pavin. LPGA Tour  - Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia The ladies are back from a short break.  This week the LPGA is in Malaysia for the Sime Darby LPGA.  Purse this week is $1.9 million.  Returning champion is Na Yeon Choi. The course this week for the ladies is Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.  This a par-71 track which will be playing at 6,246 yards for the ladies. In the field this week are most of the well known LPGA players and a few amateurs as well.
