Back on October 21's edition of
Frogger Friday Fun, we discussed the
stableford golf tournament format. As I mentioned in the blog, there are variations of the stablelford which are different than the points awarded covered in that piece.
Apparently the PGA Tour and the organizers of the Reno-Tahoe Open loved that blog post so much (yeah, right) that three days later on October 24th they announced that the Reno-Tahoe Open was going to switch to a modified version of the stablelford.
"The Modified Stableford system not only promotes aggressive play, which the tournament is already known for, but Montreux (the host course) lends itself well to this exciting format with its series of challenging finishing holes." ~Andy Pazder, PGA Tour VP and COO
As mentioned before, the format is fun and promotes aggressive play. Let's look at their version, which will be in action at the Reno-Tahoe Open next year, the week of July 30th.
