Golf Tips: Low And Slow
When researching for Tuesday Tips it can be fun to poll golfers, friends, pros etc., to find new ideas. This week I asked an excellent golf friend of mine who can really play, what his best simple thought is.
Low And Slow
Next time you are grooving your swing, or struggling making solid contact, just think "low and slow."
Take the club back low, and keep it as low as you can for the first bit of the takeaway. Keeping it low will help you feel the path to the ball and help prevent coming down onto the ball with too steep of a descending blow. The low feel may also help prevent casting, or bringing the club down to the ball too far outside-to-in on the swing plane.
Taking the club back slow is a great way to help produce consistent and solid swings. Slow takeaways will help with balance and timing in the swing, promoting delivering the club face back to the ball more accurately. Weight shift will be greatly improved with slow takeaways.
Do It
Two simple words could really help your game: low and slow. Think those two words next time you are hitting balls or playing a round.
