Golf Courses: The Frog

This is classic! It was a no-brainer decision to cover "The Frog" golf course as the next killer course. With a name like that how could it be bad? After all, we tend to lean on the froggy side of things around here in case you hadn't noticed.
Location
The Frog Golf Course is located about one hour west of Atlanta, Georgia in a beautiful area called Villa Rica. The area is thick with tall trees and rolling landscape which looks quite similar to the layout at Augusta National, the home of the Masters.
Design
The Frog has a great quote, "The Frog Golf Club - Nature created it. Fazio perfected it." One of the most famous modern golf course architects, Tom Fazio, is credited with the design of this wonderful track. Because the course is relatively close to Augusta National, the look and vibe is very similar in many ways.
As mentioned, the tall trees nicely frame in the fairways. Bunkering at The Frog is extensive and the bunkers are filled with bright white sand which greatly contrasts with the deep greens of the fairways and trees. The greens are bent grass and roll smooth and fast.
The design will test all aspects of a player's game, from tee to green and with all the bunkering especially sand game. The biggest test on the player however, will be course management. Calculating yardages, deciding on layups or aggressive play on the par-5's etc., is the key to scoring well on The Frog.
Signature Hole
Tough call on the signature hole. They're all very beautiful. The 342 yard par-4 7th would be my call, with its dense trees on the hillside right of the fairway.
The 8th hole, pictured below, is a nice choice too with a long shot over a water hazard to a green guarded by trees on the right.

Facilities
The Frog has a full practice area and practice putting green right near the first tee.
The pro shop is fully stocked with apparel and all major equipment offerings.
The onsite restaurant is the Frog Grill, open 7AM-7PM Monday through Thursday, 7AM-8PM Friday through Sunday.
