Colonial Williamsburg is a historical place, the heart of the American Revolution. Set amongst the historic buildings and museums of the area is a gem of a golf course, the Golden Horseshoe Gold Course.
Design
Colonial Williamsburg's Gold Course opened in 1963, a design of the late and great golf course architect Robert Trent Jones, Sr. As it is located in a historic and protected area, no homes or developments of any sort are on the course and no homes or buildings will ever line the course.

The course style is a a tree-lined traditional design. The course features extremely plush forest areas and deeply green fairways and putting surfaces. Course routing is wonderful. Playing the course one feels like he/she is the only person out there. There are no parallel fairways.
Stats
There are four sets of tees on the Gold course. Maximum yardage of the course is 6,817 yards playing from, you guessed it, the Gold tees. Course slope is 144 with a rating of 73.8. In short, this is a very challenging course for even the best gofers in the world.

Awards
The Gold Course has won so many awards we'd need to rent more web space to post them all. The course is always listed in "Top 100" lists, from Golf digest's "100 Greatest Public Courses to Golf Magazine's "Top 100 You Can Play."
Amenities
Ample and comfortable lodging is located within walking distance of the golf course. From the course, or the lodging, the historic town is also within walking distance. In this area one can experience what it was like to live in Revolutionary era Williamsburg.
Other amenities include a spacious clubhouse with bar, pool, spa and numerous restaurants.
