Ah the weekend is here. Time for a Friday Fun feature! Let's look at a fun tournament format that is known by two different names, the "shamble" or "bramble."
Shamble Format
Shamble gets its name from combining elements of stroke play and a scramble. Shambles are team games, for 2-4 players.
Like a scramble, all the members of the team (lets say 4 for this scenario) hit a tee shot. The best tee shot of the group is then chosen as the ball in play. Each player whose ball was not chosen picks up their ball and puts it in the position of the chosen ball. From that point on, each player hits a shot and finishes the hole on his/her own ball as they would in stroke play.
In short:
1. All players tee off
2. Best tee shot is selected
3. All players play individual stroke play from best tee shot chosen
Next fun tournament you might have a hand in setting up, perhaps suggest the "shamble" format!
