The Humana Challenge (formerly the Bob Hope) has always been a low, low scoring event. David Duval shot a 59 there in 1999.
Another record was made as the eventual winner of the 2014 Humana Challenge started off the tournament with THREE consecutive 63’s. Patrick Reed was -27 after three rounds. Wow.
The final round was tough though, and Reed struggled. He had a seven shot lead to start and gave all but two shots of that lead away. Nice to have such a cushion.
Thanks to this win Reed is exempt on tour until 2017. He moves to #8 in FedEx Cup points.

Imagine you’re a young, up and coming golfer trying to win a big tournament on the European Tour. Chasing you down the stretch are two of the best players of the current era, one a Hall of Fame golfer.
Pablo Larrazabal was in that situation in Abu Dhabi as he had Phil Micelson and Rory McIlory chasing him down the stretch in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship. Larrazabal found a way to make birdie on the final hole to separate himself from McIlory and Mickelson for the win.
“I beat two fo the three most talented guys in my era,” said Larrazabal.
