World #1 Inbee Park was the focus of media attention this week at the Women’s British Open. She had the chance to make history by winning her fourth major in a row.
#2 in the world Stacey Lewis had other thoughts though, as she carded a two shot victory over South Koreans Hee Young Park and Na Yeon Choi.
The win for Lewis marks her 2nd major championship, the first coming in 2011 at the Kraft Nabisco Championship.

WGC Bridgestone Invitational
Firestone CC, Akron, Ohio
Perhaps Tiger Woods was a little mad after his less-than-stellar final round in the British Open. Woods started out at Firestone, a course he almost always plays well, with his foot on the accelerator.
Woods was on “59 watch” during Friday’s round. With two holes to play a birdie-birdie finish would make 59 on the par-70 course. Instead Woods made two pars, tying his own course record.
But the 61 put Tiger into the lead with a large cushion which he held the rest of the week, finishing at -15. The nearest competitors, 2012 champion Keegan Bradley and Henrik Stenson, finished seven shots back at -8.
The win marked the 79th in Woods’s career, edging him closer to the all time record held by Sam Snead, 82.
PGA Tour
Reno/Tahoe Open
Montreux G&CC, Reno, Nevada
The PGA Tour played along side the Bridgestone WGC event. The Tour was in Reno for the Reno-Tahoe Open. Tournament format for this event is a modified stableford, explained in this article.
Gary Woodland finished with 44 points, giving him a nine point victory over Jonathan Byrd and Andres Romero. The win marks Woodland’s 2nd on Tour.
Champions Tour
3M Championship
TPC Twin Cities, Blaine, MN
The seniors were also in action this week. The top player in the 50 and older crowd was Tom Pernice Jr. Pernice outscored Corey Pavin and Jeff Sluman by one shot to claim his first Champions Tour victory.
