The McGladrey Classic
Seaside Course, Sea Island, GA
In golf all a competitor can do is try his/her best and hope that it is enough to win. Worrying about what other players do is not typically constructive or helpful.
At the McGladrey classic, Chris Kirk was doing his best and had himself in contention to win. He figured he would need to make birdie on the last hole to win, as he was tied with Briny Baird. Kirk's game plan changed quickly though, as Baird topped a bunker shot. The topped ball rolled almost 100 yards and ended up in a hazard.
Kirk changed from thinking aggressive and birdie, to conservative and par for the win.
Mission accomplished. First ticket to the Masters for Kirk punched.
Said Baird after the round, "It hurt to do what I did on the last hole."
