“This is by far the biggest tournament I ever won.” ~Kenny PerryLPGA Tour Manulife Financial LPGA Classic Grey Silo Golf Course, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada The LPGA Tour had to enter a playoff to determine a winner in the Manulife Financial LPGA Classic. South Korea’s Hee Young Park dueled USA’s Angela Stanford in a three-hole playoff. Park outlasted the American with a 3rd hole birdie to record her 2nd win of the 2013 LPGA season. European Tour Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open Castle Stuart Golf Links Inverness, Scotland Phil Mickelson has been playing in the Scottish Open for about a decade. He uses this championship as preparation for the British Open, getting a feel for links golf. He has the feel. Mickelson dueled down the stretch with Henrik Stenson and Branden Grace and brought a 1-shot lead into the final hole, a par-5. Mickelson played conservatively, reaching the par-5 in three shots. All he had to do was two-putt from about 15 feet for the win. In “Phil the thrill” fashion, Mickelson ran the birdie putt by the hole too far and couldn’t make the come back putt for the win. He would have to take on Branden Grace in a playoff. The playoff, the same par-5, saw Mickeslon abandoning the conservative approach. He went for the green in two, missing just short into a tight lie about 30 yards from the pin. His lob wedge was crisply struck and spun back to tap-in range for birdie. Grace had a lengthy birdie putt to tie but could not convert. The victory for Mickelson should give him confidence that he can play well in windy, links conditions coming into the British Open this week.

TPC Deere Run, Silvis, IL
Quite an amazing tournament this weekend at the John Deere Classic. There were many very low scores, including a 62 by Daniel Summerhays in the 3rd round.
19 year old Jordan Spieth shot three consecutive 65’s in the last three rounds, tying at -19 with Canada’s David Hearn and USA’s Zach Johnson. A playoff to determine the winner ensued.
The playoff was very long, five holes. For the first four, all players made pars. Speth was the only one to make par on the 5th playoff hole, the par-4 18th.
With the win Spieth becomes the youngest player to win on Tour in 82 years, younger than Tiger Woods, Rory McIlory or Phil Mickelson were for their first wins.
