The PGA Tour was in Malaysia this past week to contest the CIMB Classic, part of the newly formatted Tour season. Though in the fall series or “off” season on the Tour, this tournament marked one of the largest payouts for first place in the entire calendar year, with only a few events like THE PLAYERS championship or major tournaments topping the take.
At the end of regulation two players were tied atop the leaderboard at 14 under par, big hitting Gary Woodland and not so big hitting Ryan Moore. In the playoff Moore made birdie on the par-5 18th to capture his third win on tour and break a dry spell.
Moore cited his success in the CIMB to work he put in during time off. He and his coach took a look at his stats and decided to tackle those issues. Apparently whatever they did worked.

Suzanne Petterson is working on a hall of fame LPGA career. Petterson was trading blows with Spaniard Azahara Munoz for a while duging Sunday’s final round in Taoyuan, Taiwan. But as the round progressed Petterson put her foot on the accelerator and moved out to a five shot margin by the time the final hole was completed.
The Sunrise LPGA Taiwan Championship win marks the 14th in Petterson’s LPGA Tour career, and the fourth this season.

Kenny Perry is good enough to play on any tour he wants. With more focus this year on the senior circuit, Perry is edging closer to taking the lead in the Schwabb Cup.
Perry recorded his third Champions Tour victory of the year by defeating the player he is chasing in the Schwab Cup, Bernhard Langer.
Not far behind was Fred Funk. Funk is showing signs of a great return to competitive golf as he comes back from knee surgery.
