The
Frogger YouTube Channel has a ton of great golf instructional videos from our own resident pro Kris Moe.
This week’s Tuesday Tip features a very simple and easy drill for chipping/pitching those pesky 30-50 yard shots. You know the ones where you can’t take a full swing? They’re very hard to feel and calculate the proper swing width and speed for the proper distance. Some shots are short. Some are long.
8-4
Kris Moe’s drill below is the 8-4 drill. Take the golf club (something like a sand wedge) back to about 8 a.m., then follow through at double the speed to about 4 p.m.

Doubling the speed of the swing is great because it gets you accellerating through the swing. One of the worst things you can do, especially on short game shots, is decelerate. Decelerating introduces all sorts of problems, from blading it to hitting it fat.
Once you have the 8-4 drill down, adjust the times, say from 9-5 in order to change the distance.
