Golf is a simple sport which we overcomplicate. The goal is to hit a ball into a hole. But as we all know, that task is easier said than done. There are many barriers, physical and mental, between that tee shot and the hole.
A fun game which helps to simplify the game and break it down into smaller, easier to achieve goals, is called “Perfecto.” The goal of Perfecto is to play a hole perfectly:
On par-4 and par-5 holes, the first part of making a Perfecto is hitting the fairway with the tee shot.
From the fairway on par-4 or par-5 holes, or from the tee box on par-3 holes, the next part of Perfecto is hitting the green in regulation. Hitting a green in regulation means hitting the putting surface with the tee shot on a par-3, the 2nd shot on a par-4, the 3rd or 2nd shot on a par-5.
The final task in scoring a Perfecto is to two-putt or better on the green.
Fairway, green in regulation, two-putt or better.
Perfecto is great because it helps players focus on intermediate goals which lead to the final goal, making par or better on each hole.
