Golf Games: Kansas Scramble
Here's an interesting variation of the scramble format. Actually in looking back at some of the golf games I've posted, I need to cover the basic scramble too. Watch for that the next Friday or two.
Kansas Scramble
The Kansas Scramble is played like a normal scramble, with all members of the group playing the selected shot. The format changes when the ball reaches the green. At that point a "designated" putter takes over.
Variances
The designated or team putter is an easy selection in one variance of the Kansas Scramble. Simply pick the best putter or lowest handicap player in the group and he's the putter.
Another variance shakes things up a bit by requiring that all members of the group have a minimum or even number of team putts. So if the group is a 3-some, each player on the team could be required to be the team putter six times. If the group is a 4-some, each player may be required to be the team putter 3 or 4 times.
The team putter rotation can add some strategy and extra thinking to the regular scramble format. Try it out!
