Here’s a great game for groups and especially leagues called “Deuces.”
Deuces is a simple game, similar to skins except that one can’t cancel the other. In deuces all participating players pay into the pot at the beginning of the round. Any players who make a deuce, or two on any hole, are automatically winners regardless if another player makes a two on the same hole. The payout is split evenly among all participating players who make a two on any hole. Here’s an example.
The Tuesday nine-hole men’s league has a deuce game. The entry fee is $2 per player and 50 players enter the game. The total pot is therefore $100.
Player A makes a birdie two on the par-3 3rd hole. He’s an automatic winner. Player B makes a birdie two on the par-3 6th hole and is also an auto-winner. Player C makes and eagle two on the par-4 5th and also a birdie on the par-3 6th. Player C then wins two deuces.
There were a total of four deuces with a pot of $100. Therefore the pot is split into fourths and each deuce is worth $25.
Player A wins $25
Player B wins $25
Player C wins $50
Deuces can be more fun than skins because once a deuce is made, it can’t be cancelled or knocked loose.
