KPMG Women’s PGA Championship
Dates: June 11-14
Venue: Westchester Country Club (West Course), Harrison, N.Y.
Last week we mentioned that Inbee Park was the defending champion at the KPMG Women's PGA Championship, and she happened to be the defending champion the previous year as well. Park once again defended her championship by separating from the field by four shots. Park is only the second player to ever win the event three consecutive times.
Inbee Park moves to #1 in the world after the win and also became the most winning Korean in LPGA Tour history.
CHAMPIONS TOUR
Constellation SENIOR PLAYERS Championship
Dates: June 11-14
Venue: Belmont Country Club, Belmont, Mass.
Bernhard Langer reminded the world why he is one of the best players in Champions Tour history by lapping the field at the Constellation Senior Players Championship. On a tight course which require high accuracy, one of golf's most accurate players ever was right at home. Langer posted a four round score of 19-under-par, besting the next player on the leaderboard, Kirk Triplett, by six shots.
PGA TOUR
FedEx St. Jude Classic
Dates: June 11-14
Venue: TPC Southwind, Memphis, Tenn.
Argentina’s Fabian Gomez captured his first PGA Tour victory in Memphis, Tennessee at the FedEx St. Jude Classic, after recording a final round 4-under 66. The 36-year-old's worst round of the week was a -2 68. Gomez outlasted the nearest competitor Greg Owen, by four shots. Owen and Gomez were tied for the lead going into the final round Sunday.
The secret to Gomez's success? Barbeque:
“I slept well last night, had a nice barbecue at the hotel.”
EUROPEAN TOUR
Lyoness Open
Dates: June 11-14
Venue: Diamond Country Club (Diamond Course), Atzenbrugg, Austria
England's Chris Wood captured his second European Tour victory in Atzenbrugg, Austria and the Lyoness Open. His final round 67 produced a great come-from-behind win. In what seems to be the trend this week on all the pro tours, Wood's victory was by a sizeable margin.
