Wells Fargo Championship
Venue: Quail Hollow Club, Charlotte, N.C.
The J.B. Holmes story is inspirational. This young golfer, one of the longest drivers on Tour for many years, looked to have a promising career after his first win at teh FBR Open back in 2006. But in 2011, following bouts of vertigo, Holmes underwent brain surgery to have a structural defect in his cerebellum fixed. Holmes then suffered an allergic reaction to a plate put in his skull.
It took nearly two years, but Holmes is back (physically and in the win column) in a big way. Holmes took home the winner’s trophy and the $1.2 million first prize check by winning the 2014 Wells Fargo Championship. Holmes edged 2nd place finisher Jim Furyk by one shot at -14.

The 56-year-old became the 10 player to record 20 victories on the 50-and-over tour.
