Pebble Beach Golf Links, Pebble Beach, CA
The AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am is a fun PGA Tour event which features not only a Tour competition, it also features some of the funnest golf of the season, if you are into celebrity golf that is. Celebrity golf can mean many things, like laughs and funny characters, but most often it does not mean high quality golf.
It is only the 2nd week of February but it is time to start the Player of the Year discussion on the PGA Tour. Despite firing a final round 74 (+2), it was still enough for Jimmy Walker to claim his THIRD victory of the 2014 season. Yes, third. Keep in mind this is the first year of the new “wrap-around” PGA Tour season, which began in late 2013.
With the win, Walker opens up a huge lead in FedEx Cup points as well as earnings. There is no doubt, Jimmy Walker is the hottest player on the planet right now.

Joburg Open

Johannesburg, South Africa
A final round six under 66 brought a victory for 27 year old George Coetzee at the Joburg Open in Johannesburg, South Africa. Coetzee had been knocking on victory’s door for some time, with 24 top ten finishes on the European Tour.
Perhaps more sweet than the victory itself is the reward of a spot in the Open Championship as a result.
The nearest competitors, Tyrell Hatton, Jin Jeong, and Justin Walters, were all three shots behind.
Other Tour News
In other news Cheyenne Woods, the niece of Tiger Woods, claimed her first professional victory on a major women’s tour. Woods won the Volvic RACV Ladies Masters in Australia, an event sanctioned by the Ladies European dna Australian Tours.
