Shell Houston Open
Redstone GC Tournament Course in Humble, Texas
D.A. proves his Points...
The leader board this past week in Humble, Texas at the Shell Houston Open was more crowded than WalMart the day after Thanksgiving. Any number of about 10 players had a chance to win. During Sunday seven players ether held or shared the lead during the round.
In the final round Henrick Stenson had the clubhouse lead following his finish just before the weather turned ugly. Following a two hour and 38 minute weather delay, D.A. Points finished one shot ahead of the rest at -16, completing his 2nd Tour victory and more importantly punching his ticket to the Masters. And in the entertainment department, Points did it all while playing with his mom's putter that he'd pulled from her bag long ago.
“I've been hitting it better and better, and I saw Brian White for a putting lesson. Gave me a couple things, changed the putter, boom, felt great, and here I am. So, the thing about it, is I never count myself out. I never just chalk it up, like, ‘Oh, this year is over with.’ I've never ever felt like that. I was just grinding, just trying to wait and try to find that one thing that was like, boom, there it is and there I go. Fortunately, it was this week and I capitalized on it.” ~D.A. Points
Rory McIlory
Fans of Rory McIlory can enjoy watching him play an extra week this week. McIlory announced this week he'd added next week's Valero Texas Open to his schedule, presumably because he needs more playing time during competition to tune up for the Masters.

Trophee Hassan II
Golf du Palais Royal, Agadir, Morocco
German golfer Marcel Siem triumphed in the European Tour's Trophee Hassan II in Morrocco, beating out David Horsey and Mikko Ilonen by three strokes. This win marks the third European Tour for Siem.
Now the waiting game begins for Siem, who may work his way into the top 50 in the world ranking. After the new world golf rankings are calculated following the Shell Houston Open, Siem hopes to break into the top 50 which means an invitation to the Masters.
