Farmers Insurance Open
Torrey Pines North & South Courses, La Jolla, CA
It took a while this weekend (weather delay and slow play), but Tiger Woods wrapped up a victory at Torrey Pines, his season opener. Historically when Woods wins his opener, major championship victories follow that season. Will that happen this year?
After an even par first round, Woods built up as much as an eight shot cushion the rest of the week at Torrey, primarily fueled by great driving. Great driving has not been typical of Tiger's game over the years and he managed only 35.71% fairways hit. But they don't draw pictures on the scorecard. Scoring is what matters and Woods fired rounds of -3, -4 and -4 for the final three rounds.
"I'm excited the way I played all week. I hit the ball well; pretty much did everything well and built myself a nice little cushion. I had some mistakes at the end, but all my good play before that allowed me to afford those mistakes." ~Tiger Woods
With the win Tiger moves up to 4th place in FedEx Cup points behind Brian Gay, Dustin Johnson and Russell Henley.
The tournament was completed on Monday due to unfavorable weather conditions on the weekend.
The nearest competitor was last year's FedEx Cup champion Brandt Snedeker, four shots back.

Commercial Bank Qatar Masters
England's Chris Wood nearly missed the cut this week at the Qatar Masters. Then during the course of the tournament he took the lead, then gave it back to trail by two shots before the final nine.
Coming into the final hole one shot back, the Englishman pounded a 202 yard 6-iron to the green over water. Reaching the final par-5 in two, all Wood had to do was make a 10-footer for the win. As we say here in Frogger Land, "draino."
“There’s an enormous weight lifted off my shoulders today. I feel like I can go on and win more. I knew it was going to be hard no matter how I played. Winning on The European Tour is not easy." ~Chris Wood
