What a weekend it was in the golf world. From a Frogger standpoint we had the PGA Merchandise Show. We're still recovering from that long but great week. On the pro tours we had the PGA Tour's Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines, while the European Tour was in Abu Dhabi. Phil Mickelson was in Torrey, while Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and other bigs were in Abu Dhabi.

The Farmers Insurance Open had a crazy ending. Kyle Stanley looked to have the tournament victory in hand, with a five shot lead at the beginning of the final round. By the final hole, he had a three stroke lead. From the fairway, he sucked back a wedge which hit by the pin. But it spun too much, going down the hill in front of the green and into the water. He'd then fail to get up and down for a double bogey, which would have still won him the tournament. The triple bogey finish forced a playoff between Stanley and Brandt Snedeker.
Both players would tie the first playoff hole, the 18th, with birdies. On the 2nd playoff hole, the par-3 16th, Snedeker would scramble for a par while Stanley would fail to make par.
Snedeker comes back from seven shots behind Stanley to win. An unbelievable finish.
"I know I'll be back. I'm not worried about that. It's just tough to swallow right now. I just need to be patient. One of my goals coming into this year was to just keep putting myself in position, and I'll do that." ~Kyle Stanley
Phil Mickelson by the way, failed to make the cut.
European Tour
Tiger Woods was looking good after a 3rd round 66 in Abu Dhabi at the Abu Dhabi Championship. He was tied for the lead coming into the final round with Englishman Robert Rock, the 117th ranked player in the world. Most fans and media expected Tiger to win, but Robert Rock didn't. Rock outscored Woods 70-72 in the final round and went on to win. Rock not only held off Tiger, but a surging Rory McIlroy who leapfrogged Woods for a 2nd place finish.
"I didn't hit the ball as well as I would like to. Today I was just a touch off. I was righting the ball through the fairways. I was hitting the ball a little bit further than I thought I would. So something to look at, and something to try and figure out." ~Tiger Woods
"It's pretty hard to believe that I managed to win today. Very surprised. played good. So I guess I had a chance from early on, a couple of birdies made the day feel a little bit easier. But it's difficult playing with Tiger. You expect almost every shot to threaten to go in. I felt a lot of pressure and couldn't afford any lapses in concentration at all. It doesn't get an awful lot harder than playing with Tiger Woods. So I guess barring a major championship, I know I can handle that again. So that's pretty nice to know." ~Robert Rock
