"If he gets good playing pressure golf, he has got the swing and the tee-to-green game to challenge Tiger or anybody with their A-game." ~Johnny Miller on Hunter Mahan's game "I feel very capable of playing great golf, and I feel like I showed myself I don't have to be perfect to win. That's a great thing to feel, for sure." ~Hunter MahanAnd Now... And now it is time for Masters week!
PGA Results: 2012 LPGA Kraft Nabisco
LPGA Tour
I'm not leading off with the PGA Tour today because the LPGA's first major championship takes precedence. The first major of FIVE this year is the Kraft Nabisco at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California.
The big question this week was whether Yani Tseng would continue to dominate. Despite having the lead coming into the final round, Tseng didn't finish. That marks the first time that has happened since 2010.
Needing just a gimme one foot putt on the final hole to win her 2nd tournament and first major championship was Sun Young Yoo. But the pressure proved to be immense, even for such a short putt. The putt missed right, forcing a playoff. Fortunately for Yoo, she was able to beat I.K. Kim on the first playoff hole. An up-and-down dramatic finish for Yoo and the first LPGA major of the season.
PGA Tour
For the first time in the 2012 PGA Tour season there is a multiple winner. Hunter Mahan notched his 2nd victory of the season at the Shell Houston Open. The native Texan was right at home in Humble, Texas.
Mahan finished one shot ahead of Carl Pettersen and two shots over Louis Oosthuizen.
The win is huge for Mahan. Hunter has now vaulted up to #4 in the world rankings and #1 in FedEx Cup points.
