WGC Cadillac Championship
This week we have another World Golf Championship event, the WGC Cadillac Championship. WGC events draw most of the top 50 players in the world and this week will be no exception. Tiger Woods, Rory McIlory, Phil Mickelson and many other big draws will be in action.
Rory McIlory will be watched closely this week after his withdrawal from the Honda last week.
Tournament Overview
- Format: 72 hole stroke play event, no cut
- Purse: $8.5 million
- Winner's Share: $1,400,000
- Eligibility: Basically top 50 players in the world, with a few others from other tours gaining entry
Venue
The venue for this week is the famous Doral "Blue Monster" in Doral, Florida. This will be the last year the event is played on this iteration of the 1962 Dick Wilson and Robert Von Hagge design (redesigned by Jim McLean in 2000). Course owner Donald Trump is shutting it down and bringing in Gil Hanse to do a redo right after the tournament is over.
