PGA Preview: 2012 World Golf Championship Series
PGA Tour
The PGA Tour is in Akron, Ohio for the Bridgestone Invitational. This event is part of the World Golf Championship series.
The host course for the Bridgestone Invitational is Firestone Country Club (South Course). Firestone is a par-70 (35-35) which opened in 1929, designed by Bert Way. The course was redesigned by Robert Trent Jones in 1960. Though it is a par-70, the yardage is still a long 7,400 yards. Numerous water hazards and bunkers guard greens and landing areas, as well as dense trees.
The fields in WGC (World Golf Championships) events are always strong and this one is no exception. Eight of the top 10 players in the world are teeing it up. Tiger Woods is in action, looking for his fourth victory of 2012. With a field this strong, a win can mean a great deal with respect to the world rankings. Adam Scott is in the field, following his heartbreaking loss at the British Open.
