The next two weeks of golf are going to be fantastic. We have some "major" golf happening with three major championships in the next 10 days.
LPGA Tour
The LPGA Tour is contesting the Wegmans LPGA Championship this week in Pittsford, New York at Locust Hill Country Club. Yani Tseng will be defending her 2011 title. Purse for this 72-hole event is $2,500,000.
The course is a traditional tree lined track which was build back in 1927 by Seymour Dunn. Par is 72 with a total yardage for the ladies coming in at 6,534. The final finishing hole should provide some great golf drama and theater as it plays the most difficult of any on the course. The fairway is tree lined and narrow while the green is a two-tier with steep front.

Champions Tour
Not to be outdone by the LPGA, the Champions Tour is also contesting a major championship in the Regions Tradition. This championship is played at the Jack Nicklaus designed Shoal Creek in Shoal Creek, Alabama. Purse this week is $2.2 million with the winner's share at $330k.
Shoal Creek has hosted two previous PGA Championships in 1984 and 1990. The course is a par-72 with a lengthy 7,197 yard measurement. Most of this course is lined with dense trees, making accuracy a premium.
Being a major championship, the senior players this week will have four days of competition instead of the regular three.

PGA Tour
Not often does the PGA Tour play 3rd fiddle, but it is this week. The Tour is in Memphis, Tennessee to play the FedEx St. Jude Classic at TPC Southwind. This week's purse is $5.6 million with the winner collecting $1.008 million and 500 FedEx Cup points.
TPC Southwind is a par-70 track which measures at 7,244 yards. The course has only two par-5's. The players should be able to have their way this week as the course has been softened by rain.
In the field is a surprise player, Rory McIlory. McIlory has missed three cuts in a row and put this event in his schedule at the last minute to try and find his game before next week's U.S. Open. McIlory is the only top 10 world ranked player in the field this week.
