PGA Preview: 2012 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am
PGA Tour: AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am
Ah, this week will be fun on the PGA Tour. Any time Bill Murray is involved, fun is bound to happen. This week the PGA Tour is in beautiful Pebble Beach for the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. This a pro-am tourney, meaning pros will be paired up with celebrity amateurs, at least until crunch time on the weekend.
Of course the big news, buzz, hype... is that Tiger Woods is playing his first PGA Tour event of the season. This is the new 2012 event he announced he'd be adding. Of course the media and fans are all buzzing, wondering if Tiger is "back" and how well he will do. Nobody really knows. Guess we will have to watch. Woods is paired up with Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo for the pro-am portion of the tournament.
Phil Mickelson is in action too, and his game hasn't looked to be in shape this season so far. Phil usually plays well in the first half of the year, so this is an interesting situation.
A big mystery which will hopefully resolve itself is the state of Mike Weir's game. He has been struggling in many parts of his game and with injuries.
European Tour: Omega Dubai Desert Classic
The European tour is in Dubai for the Dubai Desert Classic. Many top 10 world ranked players are in action, including Rory McIlroy, Martin Kaymer and Lee Westwood.
A few American players sprinkle the field as well: John Daly, Todd Hamilton, Fred Couples, Ben Curtis, Nicholas Thompson and Mark O'Meara to name a few. Will Daly continue his excellent European Tour play?
LPGA Tour: ISPS Handa Women's Australian Open
The LPGA Tour begins its season this week in Australia at the ISPS Handa Women's Australian Open. Yani Tseng looks to defend her 2011 title. It will be interesting to watch young Lexi Thompson and see how she fares in her first official tournament as an LPGA member.
