Golf Tips: Club Throwing
A couple of years ago I was playing with my buddy, the red head. They say red heads are hot tempered, and this guy was the proof. He used to take swings at his bag, shake the golf cart and of course throw his clubs when he got mad.
One round we were on a green surrounded by water hazards. This par-5 green could only be accessed by a bridge to the left of the hole. Leaving the green to the next hole was an uphill jaunt.
The red head missed a very short putt. Like clockwork, he turned red like a thermometer, shouted out some nice little NSFW (not safe for work) comments then threw his $500 Scotty Cameron putter as far as he could.
Problem
The throw was amazing. I think he threw the putter about 90 yards. It landed in the fairway, about where we'd hit our approach shots from minutes before. The problem was that the next hole was up the hill, the opposite direction. Hot head had to cross the bridge and huff it back down the fairway the wrong direction to get his putter.
It was at this point that I told my hot headed friend the most valuable tip you can give to a club thrower, "always throw your club in the direction you want to go!" The hot head didn't seem to see the flawless logic and humor in that comment...
