Golf is a game full of adversity and bad breaks. How golfers are able to recover from that adversity or bad break can make or break rounds or good scores.
Some of the best players in the history of golf, like Seve Ballesteros or Arnold Palmer, were very good at getting themselves out of trouble. Seve Ballesteros was golf’s version of Houdini, famous for all sorts of crazy recovery shots from everywhere imaginable.
Seve (or Arnie, Barkie, Woodie)
A fun side bet to play which rewards a player’s ability to recover from adversity is Seve (or Arnie, Tiger, Barkie, Woodie etc…). Players determine a bet amount before the round and any player who scores a Seve wins the bet.
Examples
Seves can be determined by the group but here are a few basic ones:
Making par or better on a hole without hitting the fairway.
Making par or better after hitting a tree (also known as a barkie).
Making par or better after going in a hazard, OB or losing a ba..
Use your imagination. Channel your inner Seve!
