No this article is not going to recommend you play the lottery. This golf game is much more fun than winning $450,000,000.
Powerball
Powerball is a variation of the
scramble format we've talked about before. As you may recall, in a scramble each member of the group tees off and the group all plays from the best chosen location. That process continues throughout the hole until the hole is finished.
In Powerball the scramble format is still used, but there are a number of powerball holes chosen, usually the number of players in the group. For instance if there are four players, four powerball holes will be chosen before the round begins. Each member of the group will play a powerball shot from the front tee. That powerball shot is the ONLY shot the group can use, good or bad.
When thinking of a strategy in powerball it isn't just about distance. The group may choose to put the highest handicap player or worst driver of the golf ball on a short and wide hole, even a par-3.
Conclusion
The powerball format adds a level of strategy and pressure to the already fun scramble format.
